HEALTH & SAFETY NEWS: Federal Agencies Allow Dumping of Banned Products in the U.S.
Earlier this month, the L.A. Times reported on the continued sale of plywood products
containing cancer-causing formaldehyde in the United States. The sale of plywood containing formaldehyde is severely restricted or banned in other jurisdictions such as the European Union and Japan. Ironically, the product is frequently exported to the United States market from manufacturers and subsidiary corporations located in China, where it is illegal to sell the product. United States agencies have forgone regulation in favor of letting corporations establish there own rules regarding the sale of such products. See news report here. For a related story, see here.
